Game closes if I change locations without loading a room first (+1)

This is in 5.1.1.539, non-Steam version.

If I open DROD, go to Change Location, and select any hold, the game immediately shuts down.

If I hit Continue and do the same thing, everything works fine.

Probably some kind of initialization issue?
