Lots of trial and error, and use unlimited undo.

One thing that I did to help with the challenge was pre-detonate some of the bombs. If I'm using a bomb to clear monsters immediately around me the chained explosions were mostly wasted anyway, so I might as well deal with those bombs while the doors are still up.

Maybe I misunderstood but I thought the challenge solution requires no pre-detonations?

I was awarded the challenge when testing it in HA and I think I pre-detonated 5 bombs.

I can destroy the initial swarms with one bomb each, but then at least one of the queens will invariably escape when I go for them, and eventually I'm overwhelmed by roaches coming from all sides.

I'm going to have to request a demo on this one
