If I use all 5 roaches, I need to build paths in the water that are, from top to bottom, 9, 11, 12, 10, 9 steps long, but there isn't enough room for that. Even if there were enough room, how to force the roaches to choose the right path (each their own)? There are not enough mirrors for that.

I also tried using one roach for more than one plates, but that didn't work out either.

This is the right approach. Try using the top roach for the top three plates.

×You can "split" a pair of roaches by placing mirrors so that the only path to Beethro is (for example) northwest of him, then blowing up a mirror to open a path to his southwest at an opportune time.
