As a bit of a tangent, I read an engrossing new fantasy series, the
Licanius Trilogy. These books contain Wheel of Time-like epic scope, without the at-times-controversial narrative and plot bloat. Anyway, I listened to the audiobooks, and the third book had a recap of the first two books, and the recap seriously went on for, like, 45 minutes. And I realized I needed the recap at that point. Highly recommended for anyone looking for good high fantasy with world-builder conspiracy vibes like DROD features.
