Hey look, it's that time of year again! Thanks to Dying Flutchman for hosting last year when I was too busy. Nobody has offered yet this year, so we've passed the halfway mark and I guess it's time for me to take it up.

I'm thinking of putting up the votes at the start of July.

Here are this year's eligible holds:

* 10 easy puzzles in a toilet by chesse20
* Architecture Salon by jokokoe
* Arky's Revenge Compilation by Dragon Fogel (Collaboration)
* Bongthro Begins by azb
* Dugonium by Dying Flutchman
* Floating Friendship Facility by Bent
* Immolation by Xindaris
* King Dugan's Alternate Reality by hyperme (Collaboration)
* King Nareik's Dungeon by kieranmillar
* Make it More Challenging by Dragon Fogel (Collaboration)
* Quick Lunch Break Hold #4 by disoriented
* Quick Lunch Break Hold #5 by disoriented
* Redoubtable Reach by Someone Else
* Sequel Contest Compilation by Xindaris (Collaboration)
* Special Delivery by kieranmillar
* The Island of Doctor More-So by Dying Flutchman
* The Letter W by PigmyWubba
* The Oceanic Oligarchy by azb
* The Swap-O-Tron by Dying Flutchman
* The Wheelhouse by Xindaris
* Time After Time by Chaco
* Unchained Malady by Dying Flutchman (Collaboration)

RPG
* Castle by 1stCortez
* Escape from Monster Jail! by Xindaris
* Minimal Designs by Professor Tio

This year I'm gonna need some help finding out which holds are eligible for some of the following awards because I've barely played any of them.

Here's each of the 15 voting categories from last year:

1) Best Custom Game Element
I have not played all of these holds, but by looknig at the descriptions I am aware of the following custom elements. Do you know of any others?
* Dugonium (Dugonium)
* Hydra (The Island of Doctor More-So)
* Wheel (The Wheelhouse)
* I assume The Swap-O-Tron hads a custom element in it?

2) Design Excellence in a Modification or Addition
What non-hold contributions were released in 2019? Help me out! Any graphics? I upscaled some RPG graphics. Anything else?

3) Technical Design Excellence in Scripting
Like 2017 I might just list all holds here unless anybody can think of ones to exclude, I only know of Special Delivery that has zero scripting in it.

4) Technical Design Excellence in Layout and Aesthetics
This award usually gets everything up for vote.

5) Technical Design Excellence in Concept
Again this is another category that usually gets everything listed all at once.

6) Creative Design Excellence in Storyline
And this one, not sure if we want to bother removing any candidates.

7) Creative Design Excellence in Difficulty
Traditionally this category is for holds that have a difficulty rating of 7 or more brains. If we continue with this criteria, then the holds eligble for this are as follows:

8) Creative Design Excellence in Entertainment
And then the list of 6.5 or lower brain holds (i.e. everything not in the previous category):

9) DROD Hold of the Year
As always, seems best to have everything has to be up for voting in this category. There are 22 entries.

10) DROD RPG Level Set of the Year
Nothing much to say here. There are 3 entries.

11) Best Voice Artist in a Distinct Role
Were there any voice acted holds this year?

12) Novice Architect Award
This is typically people with their first non-collaborative release this year. Under that criteria we get:
* 1stCortez (Castle (RPG))
* chesse20 (10 easy puzzles in a toilet)
* Professor Tio (Minimal Designs (RPG))

13) Erik Hermansen Award for Lifetime Architectural Achievement
The criteira for this has always been:
* Release a non-collaborative hold this year
* Not previously won the award
* Have 4 or more non-collaborative releases with a fun score of 7 or higher.
* First non-collaborative release was at least 3 years ago (2017 in this case).
Previous winners are:
* Doom (2006)
* LarryMurk (2007)
* Jacob (2008)
* BoyBlue (2009)
* Rheb (2010)
* Chaco (2011)
* Dischorran (2012)
* mxvladi (2013)
* blorx1 (2014)
* Jutt (2015)
* Jeff_Ray... (2016)
* kieranmillar (2017)
* disoriented (2018)

Using these criteria we get:
* Someone Else (RPG)
* Xindaris (RPG)

14) Best Community Contributor
I think the previous procedure for nominations for this category have worked out fine before and see no reason to change it.

15) Best DROD Let's Player
Again I need help compiling this one. Who has done videos or streams? Alex, Chaco, Xindaris, I've done some RPG stuff include the optimising RPG series. Anyone else?

---------------

I'll open up nominations for Commmunity Contributor soon. But not just yet.

As always any suggestions for changing rules how categories are decided or even adding new awards is encouraged. I'm not the decider of things here, the community is!

Immolation features three custom elements that work in tandem: Oil Barrel, Flame, and Flaming Fegundo. The Flaming Fegundo requires the Flame to come into existence, while the Oil Barrel produces the Flame when stabbed, so I'd be inclined to count all three as a "single" element.

The Swap-O-Tron is a huge family of custom elements (which as far as I recall are called "Swap-O-Trons"), all basically tokens that switch out all instances of one type of entity in the room for another (e.g., all brains become roaches and all roaches become brains). Again, I think it'd be justifiable to call it "one" element though.

Also, Xindaris' entry in Unchained Malady features a custom element called the KILL LASER. This is basically a pushable object that kills everything in a line in the direction it's facing.

For the Voice Artist award, Arky's Revenge featured Erik reprising his role as Arky. I think that's it, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks guys.

Didn't spot that Unchained Malady was a contest compilation. That means that Flying Dutchman actually isn't eligible for lifetime achievement as they don't have 4 non-collab holds scoring 7 or more. Now there is a 4th released in 2020, but that does not count for the 2019 awards.

I'm OK with Xindaris's suggestion that the 3 immolation secret elements be grouped as one entry, and also all the various swapper thingies in The Swap-O-Tron be grouped too.

Oh yes, how could I forget good old KILL LASER? :fun In fact it is a body push only pushable, because I wanted it to feel "opposite" to the pulse cannon.

It's ti e to open up the nominations for the Community Contributior Award. This award is entirely driven by your nominations, so please contribute! For those who don't know what it is, this is an award that recognises contributions made by members that don't necessarily fit into the other categories. Anybody can be nominated for basically any reason at all. Here's how it works:

Send me a PM with a list of everyone you'd like to consider for this award. There's no limit to the number of people you're allowed to nominate, and if the list of nominees gets too large it will be culled to the 10 or so who had the most votes. However, for each nominee you must include at least one reason why you are nominating them. It doesn't have to be in-depth or anything, you just have to provide a reason. Also, you aren't allowed to nominate yourself.

Click here to PM me with your nominations!

I did quite a bit of DROD stuff on my channel last year. I know Rabscuttle did some videos too.

Huge thanks for taking to this task Kieran! I did a casual suggestion some time ago, hoping that someone would be kind enough to organise this.

Haven't been at the forum for some weeks, and suddenly, here it is. I know it's hard work to get everything together. Kudos to you.
