I don't want too much advice here--it's the top spot--but I'd like to know one thing.

Are the two puzzles linked? Like, am I meant to use an element from one puzzle to derail another puzzle? Or is that not part of the solution, and this is full-on two puzzles?

That's the main problem. I can breeze through the bottom puzzle easily, but I cannot bring anything from it. On the contrary, I cannot figure out how to solve the top puzzle, but I theoretically could disrupt the bottom puzzle with the things in it.
