The challenge for TCB, Echo Chasms, 1S2W is supposed to be about not making use of the north platform, and checks for it by whether the player steps on it.

However, it doesn't care whether the mimic steps on the platform, and the whole thing with the easy solution to the room is having yourself and the mimic use separate platforms.

By the way, did you know that you could signal failure by using "wait for item pit" on either of the upper two tiles of the northern platform. This makes it so the challenge doesn't need to care where the player steps so long as that platform remains unmoved.
