If I make a custom bitmaps for DROD: AE or DROD: Jtrh from Webfoot DROD images, then publish it in this forum, are this okay?

It's a situation where getting legal permission from the right people is impractical. Not because they're stubborn or care that much. It's just a hassle for you to track them down to ask and another hassle for them to answer. So unless you are very persistent, you'll never get a definitive "yes, it's okay."

This was on my mind when I made DROD:AE. All the media in DROD:AE is public domain.

Thanks for gave me this cool link.

But I meant "Jtrh Graphics for AE" not "AE graphics for TSS/GatEB/TCB/etc.etc."

And here the answer if you ask why i edit your text to (h)ttp:

Re using JtRH/TSS graphics in AE...

First off, it's good you are asking, and I like that you want to make a project.

There is just one DROD game that has freely distributable media that you can use however you like - DROD:AE.

All the other DROD games (JtRH, TSS, etc.) have media (artwork, music, sound effects) that is protected by copyright and not licensed so that people can use without permission. And you're asking for permission here, but to get it, you'd need to contact people who hold copyrights for the game. For the games you listed, that is Mike Rimer.

Often, it's not as simple as asking one person. When making games, Caravel has licensed media from people, and some of those licensing terms say things like "Only Caravel is granted permission to use this media and only in these games." So if you ask somebody like Mike Rimer for permission, he would have to dig up old paperwork and see what conflicts might be present. This could take hours of his time, and he's a busy dude!

I don't say any of this to make you feel bad. I'm just explaining a little bit about licensing and how it's often difficult to get somebody to say "yes, go ahead and use this."

What I would recommend is to do a project that doesn't rely on getting permission. People here respond really well to creativity. And when something is your own original work, it is extra-impressive.
