Beethro won't move automatically (0)

I found a glitch in DROD: The Second Sky on GOG. Sometimes, Beethro won't move automatically when I hold a button down on the numerical keypad. I have to repeatedly press the button that corresponds to the direction that I want to go.

I am not sure what causes the error, but exiting to the main menu and then entering the game again seems to fix the problem.
