It looks like the steam release has issues contacting to steam. When I currently start the game I get a message telling me that steam could not be contacted, as in the following image.

If it matters, I'm currently using Windows 7 64bit

Thanks for posting this report.

Hmm...none of the beta testers had this issue, so it looks like this issue might be inconsistent or difficult to pinpoint. I'm not sure offhand how to troubleshoot this. Anyone have any quick ideas?

I hadn't encountered that at all 30 minutes ago, then 15 minutes ago it did, and now it doesn't.

I suppose it's just Steam hiccuping or something, so maybe if Steam server fails to do its job properly then the game should keep retrying until a connection is established?

Strangely enough, I restarted steam and that managed to fix it. Thankfully.

However, it's still odd that it happened, and perhaps eventually we can pinpoint what it was.

Thanks for confirming this appears to be an issue on the Steam server side.

Yes, we could put in a few retry points, and maybe a confirmation dialog to skip past Steam login if the game can't connect. (I don't think anyone wants the game to hang indefinitely while the service is down, of course.)

Thanks for confirming it's working for you now. This seems to have been a temporary issue on Valve's end, and there's not much we can do in that case, but I'll try to make our connection attempts a bit more robust.
