×set up a clone so that it's periodically stabbing or slashing at a tile that's across the orthosquare from it, but not always attacking that tile, you can time "Present" Beethro's movements to lure the adder into those attacks without getting hit himself.
I found it much easier with a dagger, which is why there's a challenge for clearing the room without taking it.
