The basic idea is that if you can get a queen to slide along a wall, this will let you catch up. For example, if you're to the east of a queen, you want the queen to slide so that it goes vertically, which will let you close the horizontal distance.
Each slide accounts for one square, so to close larger distances you'll need longer queen runways.
You also might want to pick a good sword direction that won't get in the way, so that you don't have to worry about stabbing the queen by accident.
