I tried build 310, and the crash still occurs. Steps I can use to reproduce the problem:
1. Start a new game in Tendry's Tale (having already filled in the map from a previous playthrough).
2. Skip opening cutscenes. Tendry ends up in 1W.
3. Click 2W on the map. Room image displays correctly.
4. Click 1S2W on the map. Room image displays correctly, but system beep is heard.
5. Click anywhere. Game crashes. drodrpg.err says this:

I was also getting a few other non-crashing error beeps when panning around. I haven't had a chance to investigate these more closely yet:
