I recently replayed KDD, JTRH, and TCB for the second time, to better appreciate TSS.

Therefore I was surprised when The Second Sky backstory intro made reference to two things I didn't previously notice.



My question is, were these actually in TCB but I didn't notice? If so, could you point me to the room they happened in?

Pretty sure that has something to do with "Smitemasters Selection Holds". I would guess "Finding the First Truth"? That one's the nearest to TCB in the timeline I think.
I have not played any of those though, so... I wouldn't know.

The top screenshot comes from the Smitemasters' Selection Devilishly Dangerous Dungeons of Doom - it's the first scene in the hold, and takes place just after the ending of TCB.

The bottom screenshot comes from the ending to that same hold.

There's also a couple of cutscenes near the end of the TSS prologue, where Beethro first meets First Chemist, and then he, First Chemist and Jobus go to the Older Holding Vats. Those cutscenes come from the Smitemasters' Selection Finding the First Truth, which chronologically takes place just before the beginning of TSS.

The first is in TCB, but it's not presented as a big thing at the time, and winds up overshadowed by the actual ending sequence.

The followup is in Devilish Dungeons of Doom, and the other scenes are from Finding the First Truth. That said, you're not missing a lot of context from either of those just from seeing what's in the TSS summary.

If there are any other Smitemaster's Selections that are especially notable for their story, I wouldn't mind hearing about it.

Mind you, I did find the following threads, but they didn't exactly get into how the various Selections are in terms of compelling story.
