You'll need the Slayer to follow behind you very closely - I recommend you get him to face northwest, and follow only three or four squares behind you, so that the Slayer can move first, right into the square the snake's head is trying to move into.

It takes some tricky timing since there's some spike floor around, but it's not super-precise.
