Oh goody. I never feel at all stupid when I find that I'm the only person on Earth to have had problems with a room. Oh well ...
There appear to be two ways to solve this conundrum ..
1. Click here to view the secret text
×Keep fluff from forming on the vents and thus prevent closing of the yellow door until the tar reaches the pressure plate and burns its eyes out!
2. Click here to view the secret text
×Form fluff on the vents in such a way that it breaks the barrier in such a way as to allow access to the tar eyes.
I have once achieved the first part of solution 2 (by accident) but then couldn't escape and can see no way to consistently affect the briar to do so. I can see a position for the active briar that would make solution 1 possible if (and sadly only if) I could also make Beethro disappear.
So, break it to me gently, what am I missing this time?
Some hints:

×1. Forget the tar mothers (the eyes). Once the tar grows over the pressure plates the mothers will die. The mothers sit over fire traps triggered by the pressure plates. So your only goal is to survive and leave as soon as the mothers have died.
By the way, all the best solutions have 249 moves since Beethro stands next to the green door when the mothers die.
one of the rare cases where the length of the shortest solution can be proved easily.

×2. When you move the briar layer over fluff or when fluff moves or grows over the layer or briar it dies.
This will kill most fluffs.

×3. be patient
Let me know if you need more hints...

PS: It's good to see that more players play this fabulous hold
