I'm stumped on how to get through this. I can put some distance between me and the goblin by luring it onto the arrow and letting the briar grow southwest of it, but that's not enough. I need four more squares than my best effort so far.

I thought about trying to get some extra distance by moving around the briar as it's growing, but the briar grows after the goblin moves so it just dies if I do that.

What am I missing?

That gives me 8658 rooms in my conquered holds now. I don't intend to stop there, of course, but I've been able to capture the moment of reaching my favorite number.
