In the room editor, the show errors check box currently highlights errors on the edge of a room when the floor-types don't match up in a way that makes sense for traverability. For example, a room that ends with floor that is directly adjacent to wall in the next room will be highlighted, since Betrho can walk on floor, but not walls. The main point of this feature for room boundaries is that it allows you to make sure that you don't have any false paths (i.e. that traversability matches up.) It's a great feature in every respect except for how it currently works with shallow water.

Shallow Water on a room boundary will show up as not an error if it is touching water in the next room, despite the fact that shallow water is traversable while water is not. Moreover, shallow water on a room boundary will be highlighted as an error if it is touching floor, thin ice, thin ice over shallow water, stepping stones, etc. despite the fact that Betrho can walk on all of these things. Another way to think about this is that water and shallow water are both treated exactly the same by the show errors feature, whereas they should be treated as complete opposites. It would make a lot more sense to highlight errors for shallow water only if it is touching wall, water, or other intaversable squares.

I'd say this comes down to shallow water being the weirdest terrain. There's no real consistency to which creatures - and consequently, which player roles - can pass through it.

A Water Skipper can go from shallow water to regular water, but not to land. (Except to attack.) Beethro can go from shallow water to land, but not to water. A goblin can't enter shallow water at all.

So basically there's no good solution for all player roles; but since most architects will be using Beethro, it's probably best to make that the default.
