Drod has crashed on Lavender Conway level several times now.

Of course, the message doesn't help:



I have the free version of MS Visual C++. Is there anything I can do in order to identify the problem?

PS
The debugger said something like "unable to attach to crashing process".

The actual error that caused the crash should be in drod.err. (in C:\ProgramData\Caravel\drod-5_0)

Can you specify what have you done to make it crash? Which room exactly and what were you doing. Can you reliably reproduce this crash?

If it is any help, I got the same kind of error in TCB years ago when the game crashed as a result of a rock giant dying on the same turn it killed the player:

I can't tell you exactly how to reproduce it.

However, 2 minutes ago it crashed again:

Go to Conway 1N, 1E and play for several hundred moves. "Hopefully" it will crash.

I never managed to get past 2.5k moves, usually crashing at 800 moves in this room.

Fairly technical and internal change, but now dead monsters are no longer kept until the whole room is released from memory, but are cleared every turn.

Can confirm this is fixed in 5.1.1.alpha.2020-10-18.

I remember the Conways level being a computer melting nightmare way back when but in the latest alpha it runs incredibly smoothly.
