I understand that:
- to avoid the WW lock himself within the arrows, I need 4 water skippers in the water around 17,17
- one of the skippers will lock himself at 32,13, and it's impossible to get it out of that area

(at least) one of the above is wrong: which one?

Are you hoping to get the ww to the east or west of the arrow trap?

I'm trying NE, due to vertical movement preference I think this is the only choice.
I think I need a skipper at 18,17 (and so I need 4 of them there)

Cannot see any way to have the WW go SW (but maybe you are suggesting that SW is the choice...)

I am suggesting the ww must go sw.

Here's another hint if you want:

O.K. I get the point about the trapdoor. Where do the skippers need to be to direct the ww sw

If you hit F3 to toggle "puzzle view" you can see the diagonal path the wraithwing will take more easily. That path makes it look like it needs to be diverted 1 square to the east to avoid the arrow trap. Because of vertical preference, you'll actually need a horizontal wall of two skippers to make it go east (instead of north). So try to look for spots by the shore that you can get skippers to make a wall blocking it.

The skippers should got in the following positions:
