How do you complete this challenge?

Using the caber to push the roaches is fine for a few roaches,
but there's always a roach that gets behind me or kills me...

Some guide lines on what to do, would be nice.

I think I'm going to become mad with this challenge.

I can reach the bottom-right part with 5 roaches remaining and with 1 roach following me and my caber pointing S, but I can't find a way to push it back without killing it, there's not enough space with only 1 barrier down. I also tried playing in the top-right corner, but all I can manage is to get 3 roaches following me with my caber pointing NW (where I'd need N or NE to push some in the arrows).

Maybe there's a trick with the roaches before reaching the first checkpoint by toying with the order of roaches, getting the slowest one first and pushing it back to gain 1 turn when there's an empty space behind it, but that would be so annoying to manage (if only possible) that I really hope that isn't be the solution.

Until now I haven't had too much trouble with the other puzzles, but this one (well, including the challenge) is by far the one giving me the most trouble. Given the very few hints in this thread I must be missing something obvious... but what?
My sanity would be very grateful for any hint

By moving SE and then NE outside the entrance, and pushing the nearest roach NW when you're inside the entrance, you get a chance to turn...

By "entrance", you mean the top-right corner right?

I tried that (this is what I meant by "playing in the top-right corner"), but then I have 3 roaches following me instead of one and I can't manage them downwards.

To clarify, I move east of the 2nd checkpoint, then NW with my caber facing S (this is the only move I see unless I start going down). I can move the caber, but new roaches are coming in and ultimately I can't get it further than NW which doesn't help.

Thanks a lot, that did the trick!

Though I wonder how xpym did it, reading his hint I thought we had the same solution up to the 2nd checkpoint (I don't really see how one can have the caber facing something else than S after entering with it pointing SE and turning only once)

I think I need help for the challenge , As I don't really understand the hints...

I'm making a vertical line of roaches with the western wall then head NE , but finally i got one raodh behind me and I'm facing S so I can't do nothing but die.

Do I have to make a line with the roaches or enter directly ?

Everyone seems to be giving different advice for this room, so it's hard to know exactly what you've tried. However, if it helps:

I've finally managed it by entering directly in the room , my sword pointing west when I arrived in the upper right corner.
I've also tried again entering the east corridor acing south with a roach behind me but I wasn't able to not kill the roach or die myself, I think I need more practise with the caber
