I so far have lived off the free aspects of DROD. I've played all the demos, and quite a few usermade holds but haven't actually bought anything. If I were to buy GOG's DROD 3-pack, would I then be able to use that purchase so I could play JtRH/TCB in the TSS engine? I do not want to ever play again without UU.

Those holds can definitely all be played in that engine but prettt sure you would need a (temporary) caravelnet access to import thwm in.

I don't kniw if the gog deal includes that.

I would like to play older holds in newer DRODs too. However, I'm goint to wait until DROD 4+5 will come to GOG first. Unfortunately, I've deleted my DROD 1+2+3 order receipt, because during that time I wasn't aware of this possibility. :( But I still have the other one with DROD RPG. :)

I hear that Gunthro is coming to GOG in August. No date for TSS yet, but it's in the pipeline.

So glad I saw this may be possible. Emailed my receipt to support.

I'm 8 levels into Journey and would love to try to make it thru "old school." But probably not realistic for me. I need to be able to undo more than one move :)

The GOG deal does not seem to include that.
Thanks to support for adding 1-3 to my account. I'm still hoping to continue playing these games with the Second Sky engine.

Would buying Caravelnet and connecting to it from the GOG copy of Journey save all my 12 levels of progress so far?

Then if I downloaded the Second Sky demo, could I just import Journey into it and still have my progress from the GOG version?

I'd happily pay for 3 months of caravel subscription to be able to do this.

To save your progress in a form you can re-import into another engine, select "Change Player" from the main menu and then "Export".

One more question. Now that the first 3 games are linked to my account do I have access to the hold files somewhere? I see the downloads for the full games for the different OS's.

Am I correct in assuming the way I can import Journey to the Rooted Hold is by purchasing CaravelNet access and then importing the hold thru "change location" in the Second Sky menu?

There's no hold file I can just download directly, correct?

I have no problem buying CaravelNet if it is necessary but want to make sure there isn't another way.

If you email support, they'll set you up with a temporary subscription so you can download the holds in-game, there's no need to buy it just for that.

Interesting. I managed to import the hold and my player (there was some warning about some saved games not working from a different version of the hold-- not sure how that might manifest itself)

But after all that it still only allows me to undo one move :?

Oddly enough, it does the same thing when I try the Second Sky demo.

Maybe I need to wipe both games completely from my computer and start fresh???

Or maybe just a sign I should finish out on the original Journey engine.....

I have all six (5+RPG) DRODs on GOG. Should I sign into CaravelNet, or copy some files into somewhere, or something else?

Just email support(at)caravelgames(dot)com, they'll help. There has been talk about an automated way to do this, but nothing concrete yet.

Welcome!
Depends what you mean by specifically "play in newest engine".

You can load up DROD5 and play The Second Sky in it, obviously, just by choosing play new game.

To play the other official games (KDD, JtRH, TCB and GatEB) in DROD5 you need to run DROD5, log into Caravelnet and then download and import the other games' hold files using the Change Location menu. If these are not available, you will need to have them assigned to your account by writing to Caravel support (as above), with evidence you've bought the other games.

Finally, if you want to play any of the usermade holds (there are over 400, many are very good), you can download them directly from the Change Location menu if connected to caravelnet, or go to http://forum.caravelgames.com/holds.php, download the ones you want and choose import from the Change Location menu.
