Guards...lots of them and close quarters. They were my demise in JtRH for a very long time.

Now, is there a trick involved or is it just smiting? All these traps seem useless. I tried making a run for it but that's not working. One time I widdled them down to 3 but got cornered.

Any tip is appreciated. Especially any movement that's needed for the 4 guards, 2nd wave. First one is down in 3 turns.

Oh, "There was another way" challenge unlocked. 28 moves, now I feel like some guard movement genius. Thank you Drod! :D

Is there an easy solution? At the point you're escaping you're usually able to kill them all I think.

Escaping the room without killing every guard or just getting behind the guards from the east starting point.

Just cleared the last red room in this level and...wait...where's the blinking 'exit level'?

I missed the southern exit of 2W. That answers a few questions. :D

Any hints on how to take out the guards directly? (i.e the hard way)

My current trial-and-errors gives me 3 to 4 guards remaining, before I hit a dead end.

I think I did it differently on my first attempt, which I don't have a demo for any more -- but on the victory demo I do have, when there were four guards remaining I backed into the SE corner, got them stuck on each others' swords, then slipped northwards (killing one in the process) and got around them. Once I was in space, the rest was easy.

My solution to the hard way was the easy way (as pointed out above)... it just makes your life harder to do the easy way because you'll have to go through the room again to get to the exit, so you might as well do it now when there's fewer guards than come back and do it with more. The easy way is more of a challenge.

So that's my suggestion... kill a bunch and try to break through to get behind them, gaining distance by using moves that make them turn. That way when you get to three or four you should have space and not be surrounded in a corner.

You can get a guard to stand still by moving back and forth, forcing it to move turn its sword rather than move.

i keep getting stuck on the second wave. I can sometimes kill 1 or 2, but then i'm dead.

Yeah, but if you do it's easy... you've got spikes and trap doors and room and a choke point (that makes solving the room from the North trivial).

As for the second wave... Jacob's comment is the important one, getting guards to turn is how you break up that second wave and also how you slow them down so you don't run out of room.

There's one room that allows access to a secret if you solve it a certain way. Don't worry if you didn't, that's what seeding beacons are for. At least in this case.

To save you the annoying pixel hunt to find the secret wall, the secret wall path in 1s4w doesn't just go around between the two bombs. You can stab to the west in rows 15,16, and 17. Exit between (0,15) and (0,17).

Just wondering... How is it actually possible to get through this room for the theoretical possibility of entering from the north WITHOUT having already killed all the guards? It looks to me like you pretty much have to kill them to get through them?

(Unless you do the southern entrance cheese.)

Presumably, you whittle down their numbers and get to the left side of the remaining ones, then come in from the north. So it's about as difficult as doing it from the east overall.
