So, I can kill the snake and the eye, but can't get back, leading the snake north ain't working, and there's no more platforms appearing, so therefore, i'm stuck..........

Platforms appear in such way that it's impossible to go down, so don't go up. You should remain on the stable platform.

The key to this room is that you can't navigate the adder to move onto the platform right after it appears, because the platform appears on 'odd' turns, and the head is always one way too early or too late that way.

The key is delaying the adder, by coiling it into itself, at the leftmost entrypoint of the platform (the facing of the head is irrelevant, since it will only have one way to go.) Because the head is then blocked from moving in another direction, the adder will have no choice but to go onto the platform once it appears.

Timing isn't that critical, just make sure you get it in that position with the platform gone, and that Beethro is directly south of the head when it does appear.

(In the image, with the platform gone, the head should on space 1 and all 2 spaces should be taken by the adder's body)
