This is my last room on this level, and I can't do what needs to be done (and might be completely incorrect on what needs to be done).

I think I have it.

I can get to a position where I am standing on (23,19) and the construct standing on (27,19), by

The really annoying thing?

Because of the way the pressure plate at (23,23) works, I can't simply let him follow me from adjacent with sword facing east, because the door to the north closes! The whole rigamarole above - precise timing and all - is the only way to have the door closed when the construct is adjacent and chasing, so that it opens when you pass over the pressure plate: AND the only way to break the symmetry of position between yourself and it so as to draw it around the corner of (26,12) which you yourself can't step back on unless you kill the construct on the move of doing so, and there's nowhere to *wait* to let it come around the corner of its own accord, nor anywhere far enough north to draw it around from a safe position, so it has to move to a square adjacent to you when it steps on that space...

Well, there's no other heavy object in the room, so it must be construct rubble on that pressure plate. The only way to kill him there is with a "backswipe" (i.e. facing East, walk North with the construct directly behind you, then step SW).
