I assume I need to use my temporal clone to stand on the pressure plates in the NW.

I'm unable to figure out how to program my clone to walk through the door, because it's closed whilst I'm programming him.

I've tried walking him east 10 paces, then west 10 paces, and blocking his progress at replay time, but he just keeps retrying
the action that failed. When I move out of the way, he carries on where he left off.

I'm missing a basic mechanic here .... these are just the tutorials aren't they - eek.

thanks, disorientated, that unblocked me: I have +1 candy for you.

But currently I'm feeling a bit cheated: I'd figured out what bomber50 said, that a temporal clone records a sequence of moves.

So, if you record "W-W-W-W" with the clone whilst he's up against a closed door, then during replay (when the door is wide open) I see the clone trying west: this is indicated with a fade-in fade-out graphic of the clone saying "this way".

Why doesn't he go for it? there's no longer anything stopping him.

Yet when I force his hand and slap him about with the body of my spear, suddenly he wakes up and starts navigating unseen territory.

Is the blockage specific to door squares, I wonder?

I smell the smell of "tough puzzles ahead" .... right?

As I understand it, temps "remember" the actual moves they make, not the keystrokes given to them. If they didn't go anywhere first time around, they won't move second time through either.

Thanks, Tamsk, I will reflect on this as I play.

I'm thinking there might be a minor display bug here: I know that for squares that are really on the temporal clones path that it will keep trying.

Now, from what you say, a west instruction to the clone that doesn't work out because the door is closed is like a "wait".

If so, then on replay the clone shouldn't appear to try West.

That's a corollary; the temp remembers that it moved, so its personal timeline doesn't progress until it can actually make that move.

Well, what the temp remembers doing is bumping against a door. So that's exactly what you see it doing, even if the actual door isn't there this time round.

Tamsk,

I waited till I'd played a bit more, and could formulate
the problem more clearly: there's a bug topic now.

Sure, the animation could be clearer about what's going on; I was just suggesting an explanation for why the temp appeared to be doing something rather than standing still.

I realize this. My problem is getting the clone to make a move that I am unable to
do myself. Could I have some kind of a demo here to get me over this hurdle?

The key here is massive head trauma (there's a fair bit of this in TSS).

The long and short of it is that...

Lastly, don't be too discouraged by this level. Time clones take a lot of time to get used to. It's fun mechanic once you get the hang of it, but I remember this level taking a lot of time to process and understand. If you can make it past Shattered Mine you can definitely make it through this level!

Thank you. I should be able to get it with those hints. Back to work.

Please help me understand. I have the clone step on 16, 25 so I can open 21, 28 ,get the spear and hit the orb. Using the spear I can push the clone all the way to the force arrows
That s where I get confuse. At that point pushing Tab again does not give me anything.
If I push pass the arrows then I am stuck. How Tab is used is what I dont seem to grasp
Help please
Thank you

Time tokens work like this:

-When you step on one, you start recording a series of moves.
-When you press Tab, the time token becomes inactive, and a timeclone is created. After this, the time token cannot be used again, so pressing Tab again will do nothing.
-The timeclone will then attempt to carry out the moves you recorded.

So how do you do this room?
