OK- considering this one is the first room most players should enter, I'm a little embarrassed I can't do this one, but here goes.



So I'm guessing you want to hook the Gentrii's tail on the yellow door at 1. This requires someone- presumably the auntlich, holding down the multi-use pressure plate. That's fine, except I need to be directly south of the gentrii when the door rises- or, at least in a position where his tail's on the door, and I can't work out a position where I can trigger the north door while trapping the auntlich in a useful spot. Where should I be trying to trap the auntlich?

I'm sorry, I just can't see how to slow him down adequately enough to make it back to the pressure plate. Any other hints or a demo?

I've tried that in many different ways, but it doesn't work for me. Can I just have a demo please? I don't like asking for them, but I've been working off and on for this room for a while now.

If you don't know how to solve this room, you WILL run into problems later on.



This isn't quite the solution though. You'll need to think a little bit more. There are multiple ways you can solve it, some more efficient than others.

To be fair, some people learn best by watching; here's a demo, then, where you can pick up tips on aumtlich-juggling (and how not to do it) by watching me flail around before finally managing to get him where I want him.

×In fact, freezing the aumtlich's beam isn't even necessary.

Ok, I should rephrase that, I know how to freeze an Aumtlich beam rather well, I just couldn't get myself to the pressure plate without him unfreezing. There was a level in TCB that forced me to learn how to manipulate Aumtlich.

From the position in bomber50's screenshot, if you move SE until you're next to the pressure plate, you need two moves to step onto and off it. Since it's out of the line you need to be in, that will unfreeze the aumtlich and cause him to step off his plate. Or will it?

Where game teach you that you can trap gentrii with yellow door again? Only know about this when downloaded demo..

I think that this room was trying to teach you that by having the gentryii set up the way it was. A "show, don't tell" approach, that a lot of people like when it comes to puzzle design.
