I am stuck here.

I need to activate the two pressure plates that kill seep, and then activate the third plate to free whoever activated them.

Entering from the south I can get both roaches on the seep-killing pressure plates, but then I die when I release them.

If I have a goblin, I can step on one seep-killing pressure plate and force the goblin onto the release plate. In this case I would survive (a plus). However, I can't herd both goblins across the bridge, and I can't force a roach onto a pressure plate if I enter from the north.

Is there an approach I'm missing, or do I just need to herd the goblins better?

Oh I got that, my post wasn't clear enough.
What I meant was that I couldn't lead one of the two roaches up there, no matter which I picked!

Is the roach loop trick used in Seeding Grounds:1S3E used here?

Dammit, I smell LarryMurk .... this puzzle didn't have the usual DROD satisfaction for me, because it is monster movement order dependent in a subtle way: explicit hints follow.





I frown on such mechanisms being critical: -1 to the architect.

I really don't think criticizing the architect for this is right, since the room is 100% solvable regardless of which roach you use. It is a bit unfortunate that the move order is different. Here's a demo that demonstrates how to do it with a different order.

Wow, blorx, thanks. I stand corrected.

I tried that sequence myself, but couldn't get it to work.

I'll leave my post up so the architect (we don't yet know, officially, do we?) can experience double relish at having confounded the player in this way.

I'm hoping Caravel will publish the room architects in due course; maybe when mrimer returns .....
