Dammit, I smell LarryMurk .... this puzzle didn't have the usual DROD satisfaction for me, because it is monster movement order dependent in a subtle way: explicit hints follow.

And I was having a lot of trouble mirroring his moves: the trick is to get the goblin in the way of the roach, to hold it off whilst you spin your sword round.
I noticed he happened to use a different roach from me down by the keg, and when I looked at the move order for the creatures, I saw Roach#4, Goblin#5, Roach#6.
It's important that the Roach you use be the one that moves after the Goblin, so that the Goblin can block.
This is the critical position to catch the move:
I frown on such mechanisms being critical: -1 to the architect.

The clever and interesting idea of blowing up the briar to create
an island could have been done creating a more robust island, which wouldn't have needed such delicate work to trap the roach, and would have still been an excellent puzzle.
