This is basically a variant of one of the stick puzzles, only with a sword instead of a stick so it's much trickier to position the mimic. I've worked out two different ways to kill both the east and south eyes, but I haven't found any way to get the northwest one out at all.

I've already worked out that

Any advice?

Mimics are like roaches -- when a diagonal move is blocked, they move vertically if they can, otherwise horizontally.

You should have the mimic two squares South of you -- as you already worked out, this is enough to release the eye. Face South. Then:

Yeah, that's really the main linchpin of this room :P

From the starting position, get the mimic two squares East of you, and kill the first eye. Remember, you must have entered facing South, so that you and the mimic are always facing opposite ways. Now:

Got it now! Thanks. I didn't even actually use your eye advice, it was easy after I had the mimic in position.

Any advice?

How is the latter possible, since for any given eye, both doors must be simultaneously open in order for it to actually "see" Beethro?

There's a useful quirk of pressure plates to keep in mind, not just for this room but for many other DROD rooms, which is that if something steps on a plate, its actions take place immediately as part of that movement, but plates are only released at the end of the turn.

So, with regards to that secret...
