I'm tackling this room, and I always die when I make it to the queen because I don't have enough time to swing the sword before eggs hatch or because 2 roaches wait for me around the tunnel.

If I speed through enough, I can make it, but then a lone roach goes unkilled beyond the red door.

I tried that too, but I mean if I lure a total of 2 roaches through, I die at the queen; if I lure 3 roaches, I don't make it in time since eggs start forming, and I need to swing the sword for too many turns; if I lure 4 roaches, one stays alive behind the door or else I arrive too late again. Any more roaches I feel would be too much, since I only have a set number of passes over the trapdoors.
