Try going back to every room on this level. There is a door that you can get behind that you couldn't before.

I wish something in the game had hinted at that before I went and hit every wall looking for secret passages. (I don't even know what secret walls look like in this room style.)

Am I correct in assuming that the two challenges in the room north of here also have to wait for my second visit? There's nothing to tell me what the goals are and there's no hint thread for that room.

Yes you are.

Another thing I learned in DROD, that's as long as you didn't finish the game (or a hold), don't worry about stuff like this.
At the end, all stuff will be solved and found.
If you do should have missed stuff, you will always be able to search for it in the restore screen after finishing the hold.

I cant figure out how to get to the west entrance.I was there before and went to explore other rooms.Now I am back . On the map "House int he forest " is the only one flashing.

There's a second set of exit steps in "House in the Forest : The Entrance" that you use to get to the western part of the level.

You need to get an item from the Archivist Headquarters first. You should have access to Archivist Headquarters on the world map based on where you are in the game (I'm assuming where you are based on the other levels you've asked about in H&S recently.)

Did you start over? In the past you posted about rooms in Mother of All Roaches and Constructs Warehouse, which are at the end of the game. If you started over and are at the beginning of the game then you are correct, you won't be able to get to that part yet.
