That sounds nice and all, but it still doesn't seem to work quite well enough. I can get down to 16 powder kegs arranged in a sort of spiral, with 4 2x2 squares of powder kegs and a hole in the middle. At this point, it seems my only option is to push a powder keg into the center, after which point I can get down to 11 powder kegs and I have seemingly run out of options.

I'd appreciate some more help here, or a demo, cause this room is not particularly enjoyable to try to solve anymore.

Save the trapdoors along the N/W sides for when you actually need to step on them to make a push. If you have one left at this point, you can use it to break up the clump.

11 powder kegs is where most people hit as a roadblock. And in almost every circumstance I can think of, it's always the same configuration, and always has the same single move available... that requires a little thinking outside the box.

I'm not seeing how that's possible. The only way I can get it free is by hitting the orb.

It's possible via the same technique you've used many times to free kegs before you even got down to 11 left.

And don't forget mrimer's hint either.

It appears that I am stuck with the same 11 keg configuration as discussed above (X=Keg, O=Orb, S=Free Space):

SXXOS
OXXXX
SXXXX
SSSXO

I tried everything to move the NW-most keg to the west. The only way I can do it involves striking the NE orb. What am I missing?

Okay, I solved it. Here’s how:

×If you can get into this keg arrangement (x = keg, O = orb, . = empty):

you don’t need to use the trapdoor path. You can get rid of the keg at (18,19) by standing at (16,20) facing east and going NE. This trivially lets you get into the 11-keg arrangement, but with the trapdoor path still available.

Now, get rid of the NW keg according to all the hints already posted. This will get you to the 10-keg arrangement from Godot23’s screenshot. It’s not as tricky as the 11-keg one, but just in case it causes problems:

What trapdoors do you have left available to you? You can reach that configuration without using anything other than your entrance path.

i have none except the exit one, for the life of me i couldn't figure out how to move this many without using the trapdoors

going back to start to try again, making a little more progress

down to 11, with all trapdoors but entry available gonna keep plugging away

Then I don't think it's solvable from there; you'll want to go back and retry without using a trapdoor. (One should be fine, unless you're going for the challenge.)

so far this is my 11 {picture attached), and i'm stuck again, trying everything to move any more kegs, is this unsolveable from here? what's my next move, everything i try blows me to smithareens

Oh, huh. I had actually found the move that stumped most people in this thread, got it down to 10, and then got stuck and convinced I had done something wrong when it was actually still solveable. Go figure.

Assuming that by "south trapdoor" you mean the one just south of the square of kegs, right at the start of the room, then you need to face the correct direction before stepping onto the trapdoor.

Hey everybody,

This is my first time posting in a while, and I need help! I've been playing through this excellent hold so far and I'm finally quite stumped. I've been able to get down to 10 kegs, with the North trapdoor path used for leverage. I still have the west trapdoor to use, but I can't figure out how to incorporate it into moving any more kegs. I'm really stuck here guys, am I even in a good position right now? I don't know what to do next.
