In the attached image, I have drawn in red ...in MSPaint... what should be an orb assignment, but is not. It's possible to have two doors open in the outer ring at once.

This is a vestige from Webfoot DROD when each orb could only have four associations. It's probably not what the designers would have wanted, but I'm sure they were aware of it at the time. I doubt it will be fixed (possibly breaking saved games and demos) and I don't think there's really a compelling reason to want to fix it. I think this is one of those things like serpents and scrolls.
