Hello all,

Do you have any hints on how to aim correctly (snowball, daggers, etc)?

It seems totally random.

Does your character have Throwing skill?

Archery and Throwing aren't the same.

If, say, you're trying to throw a snowball at someone, if you have no throwing skill, you're probably going to throw the snowball anywhere but your target.

If you think about it, throwing was always geared towards being able to throw daggers in the QFG series and HQ, which, lets face it, takes a lot of skill IRL. However, the limited number of daggers and the ease at which they can be lost meant that you'd usually train and level up with rocks (or snowballs). Having snowballs fly wildly in different directions does a better job of conveying that you suck at throwing than having your snowballs hit accurately and your daggers miss the mark, especially when it counts. The latter is more realistic but would be more confusing, in-game.

Ok, I understand. It makes sense. That said, I know I can throw IRL snowball not so bad, but couldn't throw a dagger at all. There is a difference in between a spherical object and an long flat one.

Now: How can I acquire a new skill? Or are those determined at the beginning and can never change?

You can only assign new skills at the beginning. However, in v1.1 we're going to allow a certain object that usually levels up an existing skill to add a new skill, instead.

Gotcha.

Then that means a lot of quests are not accessible depending on the skills you choose in the beginning + those related to your class.

Most quests have multiple solutions and any class can solve them in their unique way. Only a handful of quests are class specific but, this is usually determined by skills rather than class. Radiant is working on making hybrid classes more dynamic in v1.1. For example, non-rogues with thievery currently don't have a way to get a lock pick, making thievery useless as a hybrid skill.

makes sense that a warrior wouldn't have thieving skill anyway especially one trying to get the flamey sword weapon as such actions aren't seen as honourable no matter how right the reason for it. though there's one act of thievery all classes can get up to regardless of the skill or not.

Any hint or it is really unsolvable for me for now?

By the way, thanks for the cool work and please continue :)

If you're a sorceress, you might have a magic spell to use :)

Wait, that's not true, is it? I got a lock pick just fine as a Sorceress. (I did have stealth as well as thievery, though -- is was that the reason?)

For reference, I got it by

That's wrong. As a sorceress with the Thievery and Stealth skills, I was able to gain a lock-pick and then rob every house except

However, you need to get the lock-pick before Chapter 3.

I meant that its useless by itself. You also need stealth to get a lockpick at the moment, which will not be necessary in v1.1 so, the things you describe are not possible with thievery alone. I do want to dial back that comment as Radiant pointed out that there are indeed some other things you can do with thievery alone.

How do you increase thievery beyond 5? I am a sorc and I can't pickpocket anyone with 5 skill. I guess I need lockpick first? Having a hard time finding thief guild though -_-

Picking locks is a good way to increase your skill. However, you'll need some lockpicks...
