I have just fallen on that trap too. I have the ring. Even if you load the savegame, the ring does follow you around. -,- Curses. I don't like that fact that you have to give it to a another person, because that's just cruel, and not honourous, while the game speaks all the time about honor T_T
The 'quest', though its annonying, is really funny. I really really like the concept, it's like Andvari's reveng XD and the fact that the ring follows you through the savegames is freakingly scary.
But reading the clue for the solution I don't think I'm gonna like how it ends... D:
EDIT: Oh, thank goodness, I was able to get rid of it without dooming someone else on an eternal curse. XDDD

- but it would be interesting to see whether Regin is affected by the ring. The Svartalfar still talk to you when you have it - even Andvari, oddly enough. So since the ring is selective in its curse, does it alienate adult *humans*, or the specific NPCs you need for the Eyes (regardless of their species)? The Jarl doesn't really count, because you don't actually need to talk to him to get his approval.
