I noticed a topic about the different quests to get the second eye - the one from the smaller village.

Does anyone have any hints on how to obtain the first eye - the one from the walled city?

I'm playing a rogue.

It's the same principle as for the Eye in the village: you either need to get four citizens to vouch for you, or you need to challenge the keeper of the Eye directly.

I believe that only a sorceress (or a player with magical ability) can challenge Aurvandel, but if you have all the spells for his puzzle game, it's super easy.
If you want to do it "properly" (and I guess it's the more honourable way?) you have to help/prove yourself to four of the citizens of Fornsigtuna:
Volund:
Lithrasir:
Snorri:
Arngrim:
The Jarl:

And I think that's everyone? Hervor can't vouch for you since she's, ah, not from around these parts, and Heime is not of age yet so he can't vouch for you either.

×Volun is mentioned as basically automatic, so there's one. Go save the Jarl and free the girl from prison, that's two. And reunite the lovers for three and four and you'll be set.

I'm pretty sure it's four people per Eye. When you talk to the guardian of each Eye, you have the option to say "The people of Fornsigtuna will vouch for me" if you talk to Aurvandel, and "The people of Munarvagir will vouch for me" with Sigurd, which implies that it has to be four citizens of each town. If that weren't the case, why wouldn't Hervor count? It only seems logical, especially since Fornsigtuna and Munarvagir are basically fighting each other. Why would Sigurd trust the vote of confidence of people from Fornsigtuna?

Aurvandel gave me the eye, and I only had two people in Fornsigtuna vouching for me. I also had by that point three in Munarvagir.

I think it's just for the ease of gameplay, since there are only four people in each village who could vouch for you, and they didn't want you to have to be perfect.

Which, considering how as of yet nobody has figured out

is probably for the best.

I'm not yet certain about Fornsigtuna, but isn't there more than four people who can vouch for you in Munarvagir? Would you mind describing the circumstance in which Aurvandel gave you the Eye? Did you say "The people of Fornsigtuna will vouch for me"? Or did you challenge him? How did it happen, exactly?
As for not expecting players to be perfect, well that's why you can challenge each guardian. If you win the challenge, you don't need to have anyone vouch for you, you can bypass that completely.

I think you don't have to explicitly ask the people to vouch for you, just do the quests to receive their favour. Which I suspect are:

If you did any four of them, you have four people vouching for you.

×Returning Heime for Volund, connecting Liff and Lithrasir, healing Angrimm, winning archery contest with Snorri, saving Jarl from the huldra and either defeating haugbui or winning the puzzle game (not sure which) for Aurvandel.

If you did any four of them, you have four people vouching for you.

Riiiight, I forgot about Aurvandel! I didn't think those would count, but you're right, it makes perfect sense.

Not quite, Aurvandel says it's whether you have enough people who trust you. Though I suppose it's a slight omission, but you don't actually need to ask people to vouch for you in order to go to Aurvandel for the eye.

Further, Jarl Ylfing counts as a vouch if you help him. I forgot to mention him.

Yes, but the thing is without asking you can't find out if he trusts you or not, or if it's even possible to win his trust.

In that case, I may have had four people in Fornsigtuna vouching for me, if Aurvandel was one of them, and the Jarl does as well (I did help him out).

Could you share (PM if you want) what triggers that? I'm curious to know if I satisfied the condition without realizing it.

Basically if you help out four people, they trust you, regardless of if you ask them to vouch for you or not.

I'm not sure if this small omission in dialog is something we will change as it is really minor and would require going back to the voice actor... whom I promised no more lines after getting the very last 'last line'. So for all intents and purposes, it is safe to assume that if you've done his quest, and he states he is impressed with you, that he trusts you.

I've got four of them (Volund, defeated archer, defeated ghost, saved jarl), but the wizard says I should have a defense spell before he gives me Eye. He says, old guild master has it. But old guilds master doesn't give it to me.
