Was a backer on Kickstarter (April 2012) so good to see it's finally out there. Overall though, it's not in the same league as Chip's Challenge. At all.

It's a good game in its own right though, but focus is more around easy of access/3D/etc than old-school puzzle solving

Agreed with Syntax. Chuck levels are on average a fair bit smaller and more simplistic than in Chip. I can only imagine it's because of playability on portable devices, and maybe performance reasons because all the fancy 3D. That being said it's probably still a good intro to puzzle games.

Incidentally the game was greenlit recently, so it'll also be on Steam soon.

ps- in case someone missed it some years ago, I recommend Escape for a more oldschool Chip-style puzzle experience.

I've deleted the app after the first levels.

It's so demanding on my phone as well as my (t)rusty computer that I can't play it.

Perhaps its idea is to introduce the puzzles gently. It didn't work for me, the first part was just a boring tutorial. But perhaps I'm just not the intended audience.

That's cool that this game is finally getting out there. I wasn't able to get it to work reliably on our devices either, though, but maybe those issues have been fixed in a more recent version.

How many yes-votes did they need on Steam in order to get greenlit?

Early versions were unplayable for me too, but at least my 3-4 year-old desktop runs the release fine.
How many yes-votes did they need on Steam in order to get greenlit?
I don't know if they published this information anywhere. It was part of a batch of 40 games, so... maybe not far from top 40.

I know one other game that was greenlit a while ago was #84 at the time and just barely didn't make it in a batch of 100 games, but was accepted shortly afterwards.

I remember being able to look at the relative stats for Chuck's challenge earlier this year, and it didn't have many more "yes" votes than GatEB, and that game is only around 20% of votes to get into the Top 100. Maybe CC zoomed upward once they got out on Shield or Desura. Who knows...

Not sure. AFAIK, the "no" votes and favorites don't count toward greenlighting.
