Thomas Was Alone (+1)
I just finished playing "Thomas Was Alone", probably a title closest to a logic game from current Humble Bundle, and wanted to share my thoughts.
As the gameplay goes, this type of cooperation isn't entirely novel idea, but it's easily the most complex, polished and well structured I ever saw. There are also quite a few interesting mechanics thrown into the mix in the course of games 90 levels. It certainly kept being interesting all the way. The whole thing may be a little short (2-3 hours) and like other similar indie productions, doesn't go the distance in terms of puzzle difficulty. There were quite a few interesting levels, just don't expect to have any deep analysis or "AHA!" moments like in hardcore logic titles.
However, what stands out the most, is the art side. I honestly wasn't that impressed with a game art-wise since World of Goo. Back in 2008, Kyle Gabler's art single-handedly made me interested in games again and got the same vibes here. The basis, like in most cases, is a phenomenal soundtrack. The narrated story, although simple, also work perfectly. I'm generally very skeptical when it comes to art games, but this is the real deal.
Have fun playing!
