I really got into this game when it came out earlier this year - it's not a million miles from drod (some of the combat rooms having a very similar feeling), but much simpler in setup - but it still works I think thanks to some awesome design elements.

Play Online (flash)

( I've been making an end of year game list for some journalistic activities, and noticed it contained two really interesting/good puzzle games that haven't been mentioned here, that I very sincerely think people here might like - the games are free games, and good games, so I'm hoping it's in keeping with the spirit of the "point of sensitivity" post. It's definitely slightly evangelical in nature, though, can't deny that ).

Very drod-like.
Very well done little puzzle game.

Could use nicer graphics.

Hmm, it took me 2763 turns to do the 11 levels.

Probably can be optimized more, but there's no high scores anyway.

The game is more on the okay side, the controls were frustrating, having to wait for the movement animation to stop before being able to move further. Feels very rough for Nitrome, maybe they're outsourcing?

I was in the 2200's. I love the mechanics, but hate the display. The shaking whenever you kill something is annoying.

But it was very interesting not having a delay move. I liked how that was integrated with the movement dynamics of the monsters - especially the jumping spider things. Also, it had a very novel take on ice - you slide to the next obstacle, but every monster gets to move once for every square that you slide. These ideas could be used in DROD somewhere...

3164. It occasionally got difficult to see when they were a lot of spiders on screen at once, but otherwise the game was pretty good.

Yeah that got to me as well - I chastized the designer and he's promised he won't do it again.

No quite the opposite I'd say: they're actually making good use of their internal design talent for this one (I know the designer). It's definitely a different style to their usual fare, but it's also the one game of theirs that I've enjoyed...

This is a nice game to do it again.

Still highly unoptimized (Died in the last wave of the bonus level too many times), but sub-2000!

I feel I should mention there is a mobile version called Rust Bucket with more enemies and levels. :)
