I can't even figure out the first thing about this room. Any hints at all would be welcome.

Your first goal should be to reach the red X at the bottom of the room by any means possible. Can you do this? You'll still have trapdoors left up when you get there, which is okay.

You'll need the help of two squadmates so don't forget the horns.

Okay, so I got both squadmates and all three moving platforms. Now I think I need to get all three 'mates in the center, two to push the pressure plates and one to kill the roach. But while I can get the squadmate from the left column back into the center, this doesn't work on the one in the right column. What am I missing here?

As usual I see the path now that I have asked for help. So please ignore this post.
I am at a total loss here. I have tried every possible way, I can see, to reach the red X. I see no path. Would some one please give me a little more detail.

Okay you get the idea. Also, once you get to the X, you need to use the other side.

Here's a demo. It's not optimal or anything but it gets there when I work out the advice upthread.

Edit: New demo with less faffing around because that was unbearable to watch.

Really need to see this demo but it says it was created with a newer version and will not open with DROD 4.0.2

My version of DROD is newer than that, so I don't think my demo would work for you either. That being said, I can give you a few hints that should make this pretty easy to solve.
