Isn't Dungeon Master that game where you control the opposition rather than the heroes? I don't see the relevance.

That was "Dungeon Keeper"

Dungeon Master was the first person, grid based dungeon explorer.

Phew, just finished the game. I had guessed the outcome, but the actual form of the final boss was very surprising and satisfying. I couldn't recommend this title more .

Legend of Grimrock 1 & 2 is like a modern "Eye of the Beholder" or "Lands of Lore" (1) kind of game. Really well executed, with devious puzzles. Highly recommended.

Not sure if this is appropriate to mention, but Alex Diener, whom you may remember from his terrific DROD TCB let's play and current TSS let's play, is also in the midst of a Let's Play for Grimrock. I had never heard of the game until seeing it on his site after watching one of his TSS episodes. I started watching on a whim and now am completely sold and plan on getting the game.
