This room hasn't quite clicked for me yet. Presumably the idea is to have the roach on the pressure plate as you reach the yellow gate once you've dropped the red gate, but I can't figure out how to work efficiently here. The best I can manage is to get within two moves of the yellow gate before it shuts again - I do that by (in secret tags, since I might be halfway there):

Presumably the crumbly walls below the trapdoor are there for a reason but I can't figure out how to use them. I can't just charge through them because the roach will follow me through and I'll save no time.

What have I missed?

I have been going around and around and am always one step from the yellow door before it closes. I hit the wall at one (as per MHighbrow's graphics but have to wait until roach is one more step ahead than the No. 2 spot or he comes back around. I'm travelling anti clockwise, go around again after stepping on the red tile, come through the shortcut, which I have to cut on that second trip around but always end up one step away from the open yellow door. I start with my sword pointing east, can anyone please tell me how to save that last move, I also drop the red the red tile on the first go around, is that correct? Am getting really frustrated as I am going through and finishing the secret rooms I missed throughout the game. Thanks Judi

I'm having the same problems as the others had. Can someone please post a demo so I can see what I'm doing wrong? I always end up 1 space away and I've done everything that was mentioned.

Iceworks. This room style is really hard to read when it comes to secret walls. I suspect that this is your issue.
