Made for this month's MAGS contest, this is to my best knowledge the first Rhythm Game written in AGS. Defeat the evil blobz using the power of music! Featuring three stages and three piratey songs to whistle along to! Stepmania mats not currently supported, so use the keyboard and your sense of rhythm.

OSD, or OceanSpirit Dennis, is a series of none-too-serious AGS games in a variety of genres, generally starring the eponymous Dennis, mighty pirate and scourge of the underworld (tm).

New sprites by S3, and this game uses several art resources from earlier open source OSD games, as well as from the recent OSD sprite contest. This is only  a beta, so if I'm using your sprite and this bothers you, let me know and I'll remove it. Music taken from the free sites on the interwebz.

Sounds like it's going to be a pretty good game. However, I found two issues:

1) The readme refers to this game as Warthogs.

2)

You can't help me with the sense of rhythm (I don't really have one). However, I don't want to sound dense, but which keys am I supposed to be using?

(1) fixed, (2) help added to the game. It's the cursor keys, incidentally.

Zone 3 seems to be broken. Most of my key presses don't register, even when they're in the correct place.
And I want to see the Secret Ending. :(

That's odd. It (predictably) uses the exact same code as the other levels. Does anyone else have this problem?

Yeah, it's kinda happening to me too.
The issue is that the symbols are jerking, as they're supposed to, but just before the jump it's slightly too far to one side of the line to hit, and after the jump it's gone.

You may find it easier if you hold down the direction keys rather than tapping them.

That said, I agree that the third stage is choppier than I'm comfortable with. I'll probably fix this at some point, but it's really hard to find usable MIDI songs that sync for an application like this.

What sort of midi songs do you need?

A MIDI file can have a number of channels. I need to use one channel as the base for the steps in the game, so this needs to be separate from the rest. This is the biggest problem: most MIDIs I've found just stick everything in channel 1, overcrowding it for this purpose.

Also, preferably a low amount of ticks per beat and high amount of beats per second, but this is easy to adjust.

Anything with a fluctuating tempo is right out. There are a few more obscure tricks possible in MIDI that are rarely used, that wouldn't be supported either (but don't worry about them because I haven't encountered them in practice).
