The presumably intended solution isn't too hard to pull off, using the torch to lead the roach to the blue plate, after which you can mobilize the other characters.

But is there any reward for doing so?

It seems you can just as easily allow the roach to step into the first flame you come across, go and hit the switch, and then exit through the top.

This would suggest perhaps a secret to be found, but I don't see any way for the other characters to leave the screen, nor does there appear to be any hidden trophies in the accessible water.

Can someone confirm that this is merely the case of an unintended simple solution? (If so, it's the first I've noticed thus far...)

Sorry about that. Here you go (attached).

In case it's not clear, I'm suggesting you can complete the room trivially without switching away from Sophie at all.

(And I've since found 3 out of 3 reported secrets on the level, so I assume I didn't miss a super-secret fourth here, right? I was hesitant to continue without figuring it out, since completing the room would make it impossible to switch characters in the room down the road...)

Yes, that's a bug since she can move freely over arrows.
