I'm probably missing something obvious here... but I'd appreciate a hint as to how to delay the hook for a few more moves. I've gained some moves by

×making him wait until move 10 before entering the room, leaving 8 clear spaces between us. I take the longest route around the 'maze' giving a few more, and disovered that if I delay turning after killing the brain, I can gain 1 or 2 more...
but it's still not enough. I still end approx 10 moves short of escaping into the larger area in the NW.
Any suggestions would be most welcome, please.
