(and if anyone can give me exact details of that quote I will proffer a couple of mod points )
I have been out of the site (and not playing DROD) for a shamefully long time and perhaps a brief word of explanation is in order. (I dipped my toe in last week but I had a visitor coming north for the Black Isle Show and knew that I wouldn't be able to be on line much this past week, hence the delay in posting this.)
I have had some health problems for the last 18 months and investigations seemed to take ages, culminating (I thought) in laparoscopic surgery in late May. Unfortunately when the surgeon got the camera inside me he discovered that the (benign) cyst could not be removed in keyhole surgery - it was much too big, and other problems also became apparent. The result is that I have to have major surgery in September. Of course I will have a fair bit of time on my hands while I recuperate; I will not be allowed to drive for 6 weeks post-op and I'm expected to be absent from work for a minimum of 8 weeks.
Anyway enough of the downside; the positive is that I am back to DROD - great exercise for the brain while my body is struggling a bit. I might even try my hand at building again while I am recovering from the surgery.
It is good to be back to the game, although I've found that I have forgotten a great deal and I seem to be slower at working out puzzles, and it is good to be back in the site. It is perhaps just a little disappointing to find it so quiet, but with long dark winter nights fast approaching
I hope things may perk up a bit. It is lovely to see familiar names around and I have had a few most enjoyable conversations in Chat already.
And with thoughts of winter come thoughts of Christmas and, who knows,
Something may happen . . .
