Current standings:

disoriented has one very difficult room left.
I have 50 much easier (but still tricky) rooms left in two holds.

Expect at least one, hopefully two, triumphant posts in this thread tomorrow.

So, then, this would be a bad time for me to release Cumbersome Slogs, my 600+ room hold united by the theme of extreme horde management which allows - at best - advancing one tile every 2-3 spawn cycles? :D

And who was the winner? The answer is.... both disoriented and Dragon Fogel at exactly the same time!

What an amazing coincidence!

Congratulations guys!

Now what are you going to do with your time?

I don't know, but I probably hold the record for the most H&S threads started.

I have 231 demo files downloaded. Although, that's not an accurate count of the number of rooms they represent, because some of those are "what am I doing wrong" demos and a few are demo packs with more than one room covered.

Although if you want to nitpick, I didn't "request" a good number of those; in most cases I went to the hint thread and found a demo already there.

You do indeed. In case you are interested, I counted 679 threads started by you in H&S. Fogel also has a respectable number, 188. While on the topic, I'd like to say an earnest thank you to you (and others) for starting these threads. I don't know how many times I've gone to H&S after bashing my head against a room for what seems like hours and thrilled to see the hint that I need already there all because you or someone else had already posted the request. If you've started more H&S requests than I have, it's only because you got around to doing those rooms before I did. :) So thanks!

I... I did it. After triumphing over the Room of Humility, I'm now the second person who has every challenge in currently existing holds.

Not every hold beaten like Dragon Fogel, but still this is so satisfying.

Is the number of high scores equal to the number of rooms in all the holds?

Not all rooms are high-scorable (e.g. empty rooms, impossible rooms with monsters you can't kill), so the total published room count is a lot higher than that.

What do you think the average time to beat a room is for people that are really good? Maybe 15 minutes? Of course, it varies from room to room. Some take hours. Others minutes. But I wonder what the mean average is.

If you can see where I'm going with this... I want to multiply the number of rooms by the average solve time to figure out roughly how long all that room-solving took. Because it's going to be an awe-inspiring number, right?

Like Beethro, I am amazed by the vast scope of this architecture. And further amazed by the tenacity of those who would delve so thoroughly their depths.

Well, real-time it took me a little under two years; I only signed up for the forum the day TSS was released.

I guess that means I have the DROD 100% speedrun record.

(or I will again when I beat Doom's new hold, anyways)

If Dragon Fogel would spend some time to walk down every hold end stair, and note the hold totals time on a spreadsheat I for one would find that very interesting :)

Up to you, Dragon Fogel. Doesn't sound all that fun, but it would be interesting...

The toughest part is maintaining the ratio, new holds don't come out that often but they can take some time to solve.

But now I've worked my through Chance for Paradise and Secluded Sanctum, and I'm at 100% again.

At least until the next hold comes out.

Goblin Hollow was the winner of the hold that got me my 100th 1st place.

Reached 150+ 1st place RPG scores :) (pending verification :unsure)

The remaining 120+ checkpoints are mostly in epic length holds so will take a while to conquer them :sleeping
