I am able to save the two clones, but middle Beethro either gets eaten by the lower adder, or the lower adder gets stuck in the eastern part of the large chamber.

Need to find a way to delay that adder 4 or so turns without him getting stuck.

It sounds like you're going east at the start. The adder will always prefer moving east once it reaches the north wall. Going west will ensure that the adder will not get trapped.

I understand that, but I wasn't able to create sufficient distance so the adder would be delayed. Got it now by trial & error.
