Aw, man...it looks like I seriously missed my own birthday around here! ...unless today is still my birthday. I need to relax more.
Thank you, everyone, for the warm birthday wishes. I appreciate the kindness. On my birthday, before going to work (ugh), we went out to eat and then I picked up some nice board and card games:
Bang!,
Dominion, and
Space Alert. They're great! I'm not sure how well-known these are, so I'll give a quick run-down.
Bang! is a fun group party card game where someone is the sheriff, and other players are secretly outlaws, renegades or deputies, and you take turns having a good ol' spaghetti Western shootout.
Dominion is a deck-building card game (without the expensive CCG aspect) where you try to build up an efficient engine to net yourself enough points before the other players. This game features relatively low inter-player interaction, and plays faster with fewer players. Replayability seems huge, though, because there are a ton of strategies depending on which subset of cards you play with each game.
Space Alert is a co-op board game that you play in real time. You listen to a CD with ten-minute sound tracks that provide various mission frameworks, which typically involve a bunch of random threats coming to attack your ship, and you need to coordinate with your teammates (RoboRally-style) to take care of the threats before they blow your ship to pieces. Pretty original design, and good for a quick adventure with friends that gets the adrenaline pumping.

Gandalf? Yes... That's what they used to call me.
Gandalf the Grey. That was my name.
I am Gandalf the White.
And I come back to you now at the turn of the tide.
