This is the level design challenge for June. The idea behind this contest is as follows: The Tower. You may not add any more doors and gates, although other barriers (and keys!) are fine. Also, your level must contain at least one Seeker.

You can download the levels here: http://crystalshard.net/test/June.zip

Please vote for the level you like best. Participants may vote (because turnout would be a lot lower otherwise also it's not like we can stop them or anything); however, I'd appreciate it if everybody did not simply vote for themselves :)

Thanks to everyone who participated!

Ok when it came to choosing with me it was between danjen's level and CM's level but i think i'll have to go for CM's level because of the variety of things you have to do in it and it was quite fun at the same time. I also liked the fact that you had to go back to some places you had already been.

My vote goes to Celtic Minstrel.

:thumbsup

Um... I'm leaning toward "Open and Shut", but I was judging by watching the solutions and Stew Boy's doesn't seem to have one... :? That is, I click "Replay", and the player moves up one space and explodes...

So I don't think I'll vote just yet. I'll vote on Monday. (If it hasn't been fixed by then, I guess I'll try playing the level.)

That's because I posted the level by itself without a solution, and sent the level with the solution to Radiant.

It was a close choice between Stewboy and Benjamin's level, but I eventually settled for the latter.

Five levels...Not bad. Mine had a bug I couldn't work out, and was only half-completed; otherwise, we'd have six.

My vote will be in later this week, after I replay all of them.

Don't sell yourself short, it's still a good level. When it comes to level design, "good" doesn't necessarily mean "complex" or "difficult."

I'm just looking to post a level; no small task, since I never quite got used to most of the ST2 objects.

In the meantime, my vote goes to Open and Shut. It's not often you see a good cloning level these days.

Stew Boy's level is confusing. It may be a very ingenious level, but there are a zillion possible routes to take (probably only one of which is correct) and I already know that I really liked BJ's.

So, BJ gets the vote. (I quite liked Bigwig's level too, though. If there were a ranking I'd probably give him second place.)

You should have seen some of the ones I made before I found this forum; they were probably among the worst pieces of trash ever to disgrace the editor screen. If I can find them again, I might post them (yes, that is a threat), especially the one I called "Think Outside the Box". :sick :crazy

If you really hate them, and they can't be redeemed by some tweaking, perhaps you shouldn't post them.

Then again, there may be people who do like them, so perhaps you should post them. ;)

Also: What, no-one voted for Bigwig's level? :-O

Don't worry about it. It's a feature of this forum. People are allowed to vote blanks here.

I don't really hate my unposted early levels, they were just really bad.

When I first came here, I had already made 10 homebrew levels. The 6 I posted are in the 2006 level set; the other 4 either were deleted or are so well-hidden that I'll probably never find them. If I do happen to find them, I'll start an "abandoned levels" topic and post them there.
Also: What, no-one voted for Bigwig's level? :-O
So? Nobody voted for my level back in the April contest.
Bigwig wrote:

I doubt it. Good levels aren't necessarily determined by names, but by content.

Are you kidding? I loved it! I'm a sucker for licorice :).

On the subject of lost levels, there where quite a few levels that I made and then scrapped because I didn't think were good enough before I joined this forum. I now wish I hadn't as I'm sure some of them were probably pretty good. I really wish I could get the first level I made back. It was called "Beam Me Up, Scotty" and was a lot of fun to play. :weep

Congrats, B.J!

It seems that most of the angel/demon levels that have been made have disappeared....
CONSPIRACY!!!!
....or not.

I must say, I'm really peeved that my old computer died before I found the forums.
I had what I'd call The best ST2 level ever made. It should have been too, as I spent a good 30+ hours perfecting it.

I also lost a rather good ST1 level, but I don't miss that one so much. :?
